THE SACRED PASCHAL TRIDUUM
Lent comes to an end before sunset this Thursday, April 1st. That evening, we begin the three holiest days of the entire year, a time when most regular activities should give way to prayer, both private and communal, for every Catholic Christian. Here are the communal prayer times for those Three Days; but please remember that you must sign up for each service you wish to attend, either online at stjoehomewood.org. or by calling the rectory no later than 4:00p.m. on Thursday, April 1st.
THURSDAY OF THE LORD’S SUPPER – April 1
(There is no morning mass; there are no scheduled confessions during the Triduum)
7:30p.m.: The Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper
Followed by Eucharistic adoration until 9:00p.m.
FRIDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD – April 2
(There are no masses on this day)
7:30p.m.: The Celebration of the Passion of the Lord
Liturgy of the Word; Solemn Intercessions; Adoration of the Holy Cross; Communion
HOLY SATURDAY – April 3
(There are no morning or afternoon masses or scheduled confessions on this day)
*There will be no blessing of Easter baskets this year because of Covid restrictions
7:30p.m.: THE EASTER VIGIL IN THE HOLY NIGHT – The First Mass of Easter
This is the mass of Easter; Easter Sunday simply continues the celebration begun on this night. The Easter Vigil is the most important celebration of the entire year for Catholic Christians, the holiest of all nights. Light and water, Word and Eucharist, and the welcoming of new members into our faith community—all proclaim the full meaning and deepest joy of Easter.
EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD – April 4
Masses at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30a.m. And remember that Easter is not over today. Easter Time lasts for fifty days, concluding with the Solemnity of Pentecost on May 23rd. Please note the special Mass times for this Sunday only and be sure to sign up by 4:00p.m. on Thursday, April 1 for whichever Mass you wish to attend.
To accommodate more parishioners, we’ve increased our capacity limit to the 175 maximum for each Mass or service so, hopefully, all who wish to attend can do so.
